A Little Bit About Me
Hi, my name is Andrew and I'm a Melbourne based photographer with a passion for the natural word. I grew up in the Yarra Ranges of Victoria close to Bunyip State Forest and spent a great part of my youth walking and riding my mountain bike through the mountains and valleys in the area. Nowadays I live quite close to the city, though I still head out of town whenever I get the opportunity.
In the summer of 2015 I went on a trip to Wilsons Promontory and I took along a reasonably old compact digital camera I'd had for years. One of the nights we were there we went for a walk to Squeaky Beach and along the way I discovered that the camera could do 15 and 30 second exposures. So naturally when we got to a lookout I placed the camera on a rock and set it for 30 seconds, and this was the result...

Now it's nothing too flash but to me it was amazing!
To me it turned night into day. I could see the rocks, the mountains and the stars and I was hooked. This is the image that started my photography career.
After this I started borrowing a couple of cameras off friends but mostly my sister's Nikon D3100. I would practise my dark sky shots as much as possible and for a long time they were pretty bad, but I kept practising and practising and it slowly got better. After a while I decided to try landscape photography as well because, you know, what else was I going to do while the sun was up?

Now, I have my own camera and I'm much more of a landscape photographer than anything. I really enjoy getting up early and going on adventures to some amazing place or another and seeing it at its best. What makes me happiest is when someone orders a print and that moment when I pick it up from the printer's and I finally get to see it, and touch it.
They say that a photograph isn't really complete until its been printed and I think there is nothing as satisfying as a finished picture.
